Public can have a say about municipality’s drinking water source protection plan
Public input will help update plan
June 17, 2022 By Ground Water Canada
London, Ont. – Public consultation has begun in the development of a Thames-Sydenham and Region Source Protection Plan plan aimed at protecting local municipal drinking water sources.
The science-based plan identifies vulnerable drinking water sources, recognizes potential threats, and develops plans to deal with the threats.
The public consultation process will help update the source protection plan. The public can comment on the proposed changes which include boundary adjustments to wellhead protection areas in Oxford County.
A webinar has been scheduled for July 6 at 7 p.m. to go over the proposed changes. The public consultation comes on the heels of a recent campaign meant to raise awareness of actions the public can take to help protect drinking water sources.
