Public slams sale of Port Alberni, B.C., plywood lots next to beach

Port Alberni, B.C. – A former Port Alberni mayor calls the City’s pending sale of plywood lots without proper public consultation “tragic.” An environmental assessment done on the lots showed evidence of heavy metals, petroleum hydrocarbons, ground water contaminated with zinc and that an oil product discovered floating on the ground water table was likely weathered Bunker-C oil.
