Newfoundland and Labrador – Several years or decades of drinking water contaminated with arsenic is a serious cancer risk, a Memorial University researcher says. She urges well owners in the province to make lifestyle changes to reduce the risk. It’s uncertain how many private well owners are drinking arsenic-contaminated water, but it’s suspected the Cormack and New World Island regions are considered possible hot spots.
