Rideau Lakes couple forced to sell home of 43 years due to contaminated well water

Rideau Lakes, Ont. – A former landfill site near a local couple’s home has contaminated their water, forcing them to sell their home of 43 years to the township. The couple say they were always concerned about the potential for groundwater contamination because of their home’s proximity to the landfill. The township’s mayor says the couple may have to vacate their home once the sale is complete, citing liability reasons.
