Sachs Harbour water contamination was result of an oily plastic container
Fuel was present in hamlet's water supply

Sachs Harbour, N.W.T. – The community’s month-long water crisis in the spring, which prompted a do-not-consume advisory following the smell of fuel and an oily sheen in water deliveries, was the result of confusion between an oily container and one that was clean. CBC News learned of the details through an access to information request. About half of the hamlet was affected by the contamination.
