Sampling of produced water spill on Mackenzie River getting two separate sets of results
Fuel-like sheen on river reported in early August

Norman Wells, N.W.T. – A separate sampling of water is being done alongside that of Imperial Oil’s following a spill of produced water earlier this month. Representatives of the K’ahsho Got’ine Foundation are conducting their own tests, claiming they fear Imperial’s tests could be watered down. In early August, a fuel-like sheen was reported on the surface of the Mackenzie River, confirmed to be about 55,000 litres of produced water. Transport Canada suggests that produced water can contain contaminants from oil extraction. CBC News report | READ MORE
