Sumas First Nation concerned about groundwater contamination

British Columbia – Sumas First Nations residents are concerned about the groundwater in the Fraser Valley following reports of cocaine and pharmaceuticals found in floodwaters that devastated the area in 2021. Sampling found low concentrations of more than 135 pharmaceuticals. The First Nations community fears contaminated surface water could impact the local drinking water supply.
