March 2, 2012, Hamilton, ON – Mark your calendars! Canada’s bi-annual symposium on ground water kicks off May 23 in Hamilton, Ont. Attendees and exhibitors are in for four days of fun and education set against the beautiful backdrop of the Niagara escarpment at the Hamilton Convention Centre.
On Wednesday, May 23, golf lovers can sign up for the Life Water Charity Golf tournament and dinner at Copetown Woods Golf Club, a Dick Kirkpatrick design surrounded by rolling farmland in the outskirts of Hamilton. Non-golfers have the option of taking a tour of several wineries before joining the players on the links for supper. For exhibitors, trade show set up starts at noon.
The trade show officially opens at 1 p.m. on Thursday, but technical sessions begin at 9:00 am. The evening’s events wrap up with a wine and cheese on the trade show floor from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The trade show continues from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by two hours of technical sessions and then association division meetings. Buses are provided for a spousal outing to the famed Royal Botanical Gardens, lunch at Potter’s Café and a pottery demonstration. The fun continues into the night with president’s banquet, silent auction and entertainment at the Canadian War Plane Heritage museum.
This year’s agenda includes technical sessions, outdoor demos, wine and cheese, a fundraising golf tournament for Lifewater Canada, Niagara region winery tour, dinner with prizes and a president’s banquet at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.
Saturday morning sees the Canadian Ground Water Association and Ontario Ground Water Association gather for their annual meetings starting at 9 a.m. Lunch can be found in the outdoor demo tent at noon. Saturday’s spousal program buses partners to Dundurn Castle, lunch at Dutch Mill Country Market and a waterfront trolley tour. Those with some energy to burn won’t want to miss the pub crawl in notorious Hess Village, or alternately a restaurant tour.
