State of emergency still in place at Ontario First Nation community even as groundwater levels improve
Tower's water levels dropped to record low in December

Oneida Nation of the Thames, Ont. – Residents of the First Nation community can freely use water once more, but a state of emergency is still in place as fears remain that water levels could drop again. The state of emergency was declared in mid-December when levels at the community’s water tower dropped to a record low. Rain and melted snow have improved groundwater levels of late, but a risk of rising water consumption exists with schools and businesses reopening after the holiday season.
