Study explores sinking water tables worldwide

A study by hydrologist Inge de Graaf from the University of Freiburg in Germany in co-operation with the University of Victoria and other institutes, indicates that almost 20 per cent of the catchment areas where ground water is pumped suffer from a flow of streams and rivers that is too low to sustain their freshwater ecosystems.
