Surface-borne contaminants may be pulled deep into groundwater: scientists

Santa Barbara, Calif. – Intensive groundwater pumping is potentially pulling contaminants to deeper depths, scientists from the University of California at Santa Barbara suggest. Their research has found relatively young groundwater reaches deeper depths in heavily pumped aquifer systems, and is potentially pulling surface-borne pollutants along.
