Surface water lines in Yellowknife may have become a thing of the past

Yellowknife, N.W.T. – Old Town’s surface water lines are apt to be abandoned after the summer. Residents of Old Town and Ndılǫ traditionally go from trucked water to surface lines when spring turns to summer. While other parts of the city enjoy piped water year-round and other parts have water trucked in throughout the year, Old Town residents have become accustomed to surface water lines during the summer switchover, but the municipality claims it can no longer deal with the line system’s cumbersome maintenance.
