Older, larger systems given priority

May 26, 2022  By Ground Water Canada

Winnipeg – Older and larger water systems in Manitoba that have known or suspected lead services are being prioritized for provincial monitoring.

Several communities in the province will be monitored to detect any lead exposure. New guidelines for lead in drinking water were established in 2019 by Health Canada.

Lead monitoring came to Winnipeg in 2019 and to Brandon in 2021. Other jurisdictions to be phased in for monitoring include Dauphin, Flin Flon, Morden, Portage la Prairie, The Pas and Thompson.
