Testing of drinking water in Winnipeg schools shows higher-than-acceptable lead levels
Levels exceed federal guidelines
May 16, 2022 By Ground Water Canada
Winnipeg – High lead levels have been found in the drinking water at some city schools following provincially mandated testing of administrative buildings and learning institutions. Of 82 Winnipeg School Division buildings tested between 2019 and 2022, 76 had at least one drinking or non-drinking fixture containing lead levels that exceeded federal guidelines. Two schools in particular had more than 60 per cent of their tests come back with higher-than-allowable levels of lead. Measures including the posting of “do-not-drink” messages have been undertaken in the meantime. Winnipeg Free Press report | READ MORE
