U.S. states reliant on the Colorado River for their drinking water needs are at odds over how usage should be reduced amid the river’s dwindling water supply. An environmental analysis of competing plans was outlined Tuesday by the Biden administration, but it has states bordering the river disagreeing on which plan is best. California wants to protect its high-priority rights, but Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Wyoming and New Mexico prefer a plan that allows the states to equally share the river.
