UBC researcher applies for study of PFAS in British Columbia’s drinking water
PFAS contribute to health setbacks

Vancouver – An application has been made by a University of B.C. expert on PFAS to study how much of it may be found in the province’s drinking water. PFAS – otherwise known as forever chemicals – is toxic and used in rain gear and non-stick cookware. Rachel Scholes, an assistant professor in UBC’s department of civil engineering, said PFAS can lead to such health setbacks as immune suppression, cancer and cardiovascular disease.
