December 18, 2017  By Administrator

Dec. 18, 2017, Hazel Park, MI – Exlterra has launched Hazl, an ultra-light drilling rig for geothermal, geotechnical and water-well drilling.

With a lightweight design and narrow frame, the rig weighs less than 3,600 pounds, ExIterra said in a press release. It includes a pivoting rear axle, a zero-degree turn capability, and a 12-foot usable stroke on a unique telescopic tower.

Powered by an energy efficient 26-horsepower Kohler engine, complemented by a proprietary hydraulic system, Hazl moves fast and freely, making it a powerful machine operable in any environment, the company said.

“The launch of Hazl will not only accelerate the development of our various environmental technologies, but also greatly benefit other applications such as geothermal, geotechnical or water-well drilling,” said Andrew Niemczyk, the rig’s creator and Exlterra’s founder.

The rig was tested for two years in numerous locations in the United States and Switzerland, with operators at various levels of drilling experience, the company said.
