Water system repairs in Enderby, B.C. prompts brief precautionary water quality advisory

Secondary groundwater source to kick in

June 24, 2022  By Ground Water Canada

Enderby, B.C. – Local residents have been issued a precautionary water quality advisory while work is done on the municipal water system.

A critical water distribution component is set to be repaired June 28-29. During repairs, Enderby’s secondary (groundwater) source will be utilized. Although chlorinated, it doesn’t receive ultraviolet treatment. Without full treatment, the secondary source may not reliably meet the community’s needs.

As a precaution, residents are urged to boil their water for at least a minute during the repair period.

The city has also requested non-essential water use be paused during the repair period to ensure reserves are available for drinking and firefighting. This includes irrigation systems which the city suggests be turned off from 7 a.m. on June 28 to 5 p.m. on June 29.
