Water treatment plant failure has town on guard for possible gastrointestinal illness

Sudbury, Ont. – Residents of Espanola are being asked to watch for gastrointestinal symptoms in the wake of a mechanical problem at the town’s water treatment plant. The Ontario Clean Water Agency is currently exploring the cause of the mechanical issue which has created an exposure risk for cryptosporidium, an intestinal parasite, affected the municipality’s drinking water.
