Technical
training, which in most cases is delivered in rotation with hours spent
gaining on-the-job experience, requires apprentices to forgo their
paycheque for several weeks while they attend training at a
post-secondary institution or union training centre, the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum said in a news release.

The
Canada Apprentice Loan gives Red Seal apprentices access to up to
$4,000 per block of technical training as an interest-free loan, money
which can be used to offset living and educational expenses.

The CAF-FCA will host a webinar to discuss and answer questions on the loan program on Wednesday, March 25 at 1 p.m. Eastern Time. Register here.

On April 22, the association will hold another webinar, entitled "How Employers Value Certification in the Skilled Trades Labour Force." Learn more about upcoming webinars here.
