Wellntel sensor firmware requires little calibration

Wellntel has come out with new Sensor Firmware V2 (SV2) designed to improve the ability to find and track ground water levels with little or no calibration in a wide range of physical and acoustic well conditions, and when situations in the field change.

Therefore, it simplifies startup, improves dataset consistency, minimizes false alerts and reduces future sensor attention, the company said in a press release.

It does these things while not affecting sample-level accuracy of the sensor.

With SV2, Wellntel is more efficient, simpler to benchmark, and network ready.

Comparing results from Wellntel to other measurement devices such as tapes or pressure transducers is straightforward. Since there is far less chance of a noise or distance-based error, there is less need to run long tests to find and apply average offsets. If proper well height information is entered at registration, the tape, calibrated transducer and Wellntel readings should match.

V2 firmware is especially useful in creating local ground water networks normalized to elevation. Since V2 sensors will find and track water faster and more consistently, a network can be installed, started-up, and, with proper well settings applied, will deliver model-ready data in the first hours of operation, and continue to do so for years, as long as the systems remain powered.

The company said V2 is now being installed on all sensors leaving the factory and is compatible with all existing Wellntel sensors. This major remote upgrade must be done locally by a qualified company technician or the sensor returned to the factory for upgrading. There is a one-time $100 US charge per sensor, including shipping both ways, for a factory upgrade, and upgrade work will be done on a first-come, first-served basis.
