Hamilton’s water rates increased to address aging drinking water, wastewater systems
Average household water bill to increase about 10 per cent over 2024

Hamilton, Ont. – The city is home to Canada’s second oldest drinking water system and third oldest wastewater system, and has set its 2025 water rate budget to prioritize infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and the delivery of water services. Over the next five years, plans are to repair or replace 125 kilometres of water and sewer pipes. This means about a 10 per cent increase in the average household water bill over 2024.
