Barcelona relying on desalinated water to keep up with its needs during drought
One-third of city's drinking water coming from desalination plant

Spain – Plagued by prolonged drought, residents of Barcelona are now getting one-third of their drinking water through a desalination process. The desalination plant, which was built in 2009, is operating at full throttle to keep up with the area’s water needs.
