Canadian Ground Water Week
Researchers turn to NASA to detect underground water volume levels
Volumes can be estimated through changes in earth’s gravity field
March 13, 2024 By Ground Water Canada

Researchers from the United States, Switzerland, England and Saudi Arabia are collaborating on the study of dwindling aquifers worldwide. With the help of NASA’s Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) satellites, the volume of water stored underground can be estimated through detected changes in earth’s gravity field. Measurements have been taken from wells around the globe over an eight-year period for the study. The Gauntlet report | READ MORE
