Spillage from new Lucknow, Ont. water tower precipitated by outdated software

Lucknow, Ont. – Water recently spilling from the top of the town’s new water tower was precipitated by outdated software.

The municipality’s public works director said issues arose with the automated controls that activate the well pumps. Consequently, pumps were activated when the tower was already full, creating an overflow event.

The new water tower is expected to have updated software to prevent the same occurrence from happening.

Construction of the new tower is on scheduled and is expected to online next week. Demolition of the former standpipe will take place soon afterward.
