Ottawa and Toronto – The federal government recently announced that 235 projects in First Nations across Ontario will receive funding under the its Clean Water and Wastewater Fund.
These investments are intended to safeguard the health and well-being of residents, protect waterways and preserve local ecosystems, the government said in a news release.
The $8.8 million investment is directed to First Nations across Ontario to help them benefit from improved water, wastewater and stormwater management. Water and wastewater control system upgrades in Nipissing First Nation will improve response times during water and wastewater emergencies. A new generator for the water treatment plant in the Brunswick House First Nation, and stormwater system improvements in Fort William First Nation will improve these communities’ stormwater management system as well as improve water quality in the surrounding environments.
