Conservationists oppose approved Alberta gravel mine, fearing groundwater contamination

Calgary – A gravel mine approved for development near an environmentally sensitive provincial park has raised the ire of conservationists who fear contaminants will be released into the groundwater. Big Hill Springs Provincial Park in Cochrane supplies clean freshwater to both Big Hill Creek and the Bow River.
