Construction of Durham Region hospital could compromise groundwater, advocates say

Pickering, Ont. – Advocates representing a number of environmental groups demonstrated outside the office of Ajax MPP Rod Phillips on Saturday, calling for the Carruthers Creek headwaters to be added to the Greenbelt. The demonstrators claim the land chosen as a possible site for a new hospital could alter the creek’s flow rate.
