Consultant finds 4,500 litres of gasoline spilled into ground at gas station last year

Traces of hydrocarbons found in Charlottetown site groundwater

Charlottetown, P.E.I. – An independent consultant has determined about 4,500 litres of gasoline spilled into the ground last August at a Petro-Canada station here. Although about 500 litres were initially captured by an underground tank sump, the bulk leaked into the ground with traces of hydrocarbons discovered in the soil and groundwater.
