Despite record rain and snow amounts, more needed to reach sustainability: experts
Last winter's amounts equalled water used annually by Californians

California – Record amounts of snow and rain in the state this past winter amounted to about 3.8 million acre-feet of water that helped fill depleted underground reservoirs. The amount equated to as much water as Californians use annually. Although the amounts of precipitation was beneficial to the state’s groundwater, many more years of rain and stepped-up efforts from local water agencies will be required to achieve sustainability, experts say.
