Springhill, N.S. – A new study is underway to explore how the use of geothermal energy can be broadened in Cumberland County and perhaps expand to other parts of the province. A former coal mine that closed in 1958, which reaches depths of more than four kilometres, has tapped the naturally heated water underground to heat several fixtures in the community.
