Research at St. FX University finds faster, easier way to detect bacteria in drinking water
Gold nanoparticles can also kill bacteria

Antigonish, N.S. – Researchers at St. Francis Xavier University have found gold nanoparticles, antibiotics and light have been effective in detecting bacteria contamination in drinking water. Their research, in collaboration with international partners, has proven to be an easier and faster method for finding bacteria in water. Other test methods can take up to 18 hours and involve several steps. The research has also found the nanoparticles are capable of killing bacteria. CBC News report | READ MORE
