Alberta enters into water sharing negotiations amid threat of water shortage
Low mountain snowpack, low-level rivers, drought contribute to shortage

Calgary – As the threat of water shortages continues to grow in Alberta, the province has begun negotiations for water-sharing in the Red Deer River, Bow River and Old Man River basins. Low reservoir levels and record low river levels have caused concern in the southern part of the province. The area has been plagued by a low mountain snowpack and below-average precipitation.
