Expert says southern Alberta is one of world’s primary spots for radon levels
Scientists says drilled wells, not groundwater, is at issue

Okotoks, Alta. – Southern Alberta is one of the world’s prime locations for radon exposure which is a major cause for concern, a Calgary scientists says. Dr. Aaron Goodarzi of the University of Calgary says it’s not the groundwater but the well that is the issue. He says drilled wells allow radon gas formed in soil and rock to rise to the surface, jeopardizing human health. Rural residences are particularly at risk with 30 per cent higher indoor radon levels compared to urban settings. Western Wheel report | READ MORE
