Fallout from wildfires could significantly impact Kelowna area’s drinking water
UBC professor says heavy rains, snow melt could be a factor

Kelowna, B.C. – An assistant professor of of earth, environmental and geographic sciences at the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan campus warns the post-wildfire fallout could significantly impact the area’s drinking water. It’s a particular concern when the impact of heavy rains and next spring’s snow melt are factored in. He says the short-term impact could be more sediment entering West Kelowna’s water reservoir.
