Vancouver – The impact of British Columbia’s wildfires is apt to put drinking water at risk in many of the province’s smaller municipalities, including First Nations communities. A Department of Forest and Conservation Sciences professor at the University of British Columbia says several hillsides in the province were scorched from the fires, allowing rainfall to create “debris torrents” and making silt filtration that much more difficult.
