E. coli in suburban Montreal water forces boil-water advisory for two boroughs
Advisory has been extended into a fourth day
September 5, 2023 By Ground Water Canada
Montreal – A boil-water advisory issued for a couple of the city’s boroughs has been extended to a fourth day. The advisory was issued after E. coli bacteria was found in the local water supply.
The advisory affects about 60,000 people in the Boucherville and St-Bruno-de-Montarville suburbs of Montreal’s south side.
The advisory had already been lifted in a neighbouring community that supplies the affected boroughs with its drinking water supply.
No contamination was reported after test results were taken on Sunday, but negative results from a second round of testing are required before the advisory can be lifted.
The communities get their drinking water from a plant in Longueuil which lifted its advisory on Sunday.
