Farmers’ irrigation water allotment reduced to half this year amid ongoing Alberta drought

Reduction to eight inches from 16 inches

Calgary – Farmers in Canada’s largest irrigation district have been told they’ll be allotted half the water they normally get this year due to ongoing drought conditions. At the annual general meeting of the St. Mary River Irrigation District, farmers were told they could use eight inches of water rather than 16 inches which is the usual allotment in a normal year.
