Grande Prairie, Alta. putting on free water well management workshop for community

Grande Prairie, Alta. – The County of Grande Prairie wishes to better inform water well owners about the intricacies of their wells through a well management workshop in November.

The Nov. 8 workshop is being presented by the Working Well program. Expertise is being provided by Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation, Alberta Environment and Protected Areas, and licensed water drillers.

Attendees will learn what’s needed to know about well installation and maintenance.

Among the topics that will be covered include:

• Understanding groundwater
• How wells work
• Finding and understanding a drilling report
• How to “draw your well”
• Water well problems
• Top 10 well-enemies
• Shock chlorinating wells
• Taking and testing water samples
