Protecting the earth’s water is the message at the forefront of Groundwater Awareness Week, which is being celebrated this week. The special week strives to convey a message of the importance of research and data in the field of groundwater and to educate the public about groundwater’s significance. Groundwater accounts for about 30 per cent of the earth’s freshwater and is essential as a drinking water source in public and private wells.
