Ongoing Louisiana drought could affect drinking water for about five million people

New Orleans – Saltwater from the Gulf of Mexico, aided by long-lasting drought in Louisiana, is threatening to impact the drinking water in the Mississippi River. Drought has decreased the river’s flow, putting it at risk of saltwater infusion.
