Proposed walking trail for Shawnigan Lake could compromise drinking water source
Biologist says removal of trees to allow trail could lead to erosion, leaching of sediment into lake

Shawnigan Lake, B.C. – A proposed waterfront trail project for the community isn’t sitting well with many residents who are concerned its impact on the lake’s riparian zone could compromise its water quality. The lake is a source for local drinking water. Mature trees would need to be removed to build the trail which could lead to erosion and sediment leaching into the lake.
