Solar-powered irrigation pumps helping India’s farmers, but groundwater levels are in decline
Aquifers drying up despite country's attempts to go 'green'

India – Solar-powered pumps used to draw irrigation water to grow crops has greatly helped farmers in parched areas of the country. The Indian government has subsidized the cost of the solar pumps to about 100,000 farmers over the past 10 years, but the water tables are drying up. In some areas, dry rocks have been discovered up to 400 feet beneath the surface. Wired report | READ MORE
