First Nation’s political office was busy on deadline day for drinking water settlement

London, Ont. – The deadline for filing for compensation in a First Nations drinking water settlement was last Thursday which proved to be a busier-than-usual day at the Oneida Nation of the Thames political office. The First Nation community has been under a boil-water advisory for the past five years. The CEO of Oneida Nation of the Thames says the settlement demonstrates that the federal government has finally heard the voices of affected First Nations communities and are taking the advisories seriously.
