Third-party review of Iqaluit water crisis suggests disagreements slowed down response
Bypass system could have been implemented sooner if city, territory were in agreement

Iqaluit, Nunavut – Disagreements between the city and the territorial government adversely affected the response to Iqaluit’s water crisis in 2021, according to a third-party review of the matter. Residents went without clean tap water for two months after hydrocarbons were found in the water supply, leading to the implementation of a bypass system that allowed a return to consumption. The review, however, found the system could have been in place much sooner if both parties were able to agree on its implementation. CBC News report | READ MORE
