Uranium in consumed drinking water linked to kidney damage in humans

Nebraska – Researchers at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln have confirmed that nitrate can help move naturally occurring uranium to groundwater from the underground. Research shows that aquifers with high levels of nitrate – which is found in fertilizer and animal waste – contain concentrations of uranium that exceed Environmental Protection Agency thresholds.
