Upgrades to Hamilton water treatment plant lead to increase in water bills

Hamilton, Ont. – Two million hours of labour were put into upgrades at the city’s Woodward Avenue Wastewater Treatment Plant over the past several years, at a cost of $340 million. The expense has translated into an increase of residents’ water bills. The upgrades have led to a more efficient system that can better withstand extreme weather and can handle population growth.
