Thousands of U.S. water utilities required to upgrade treatment methods to battle PFAS
Upwards of 6,300 utilities require EPA-mandated upgrades

New regulations are being enforced by the Environmental Protection Agency that will require thousands of water utilities in the United States to upgrade their treatment methods as a means of freeing drinking water from “forever chemicals” or PFAS. The regulations are expected to affect between 3,400 and 6,300 water utilities throughout the country. PFAS removal technology is expected to cost millions which will be passed along to consumers.
