Barrie, Ont. registers perfect score by MECP for its drinking water quality
City in full compliance with MECP requirements
March 2, 2022 By Ground Water Canada
Barrie, Ont. – The city’s drinking water quality has received a 100 per cent score from the Ontario Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP).
Barrie’s general manager of infrastructure says the perfect score can be attributed to staff’s tireless work during the pandemic to ensure drinking water remains safe.
The drinking water rating will soon be published in the ministry’s Chief Drinking Water Inspector’s Annual Report. The report notes the city was in full compliance with all MECP requirements.
Under the Safe Drinking Water Act, all municipal drinking water systems in the province must be inspected annually and to comply with MECP legislation.
