Boil-water advisory issued for Nunavut community after coliform bacteria found in water
Boil-water advisories not uncommon in territory

Sanirajak, Nunavut – Coliform bacteria has been found in the municipality’s water system, prompting a boil-water advisory.
The territory’s department of health has advised that water should be brought to a rolling boil for at least a minute before it is used for such purposes as drinking, food preparations and teeth brushing. The water is deemed safe for bathing.
Boil-water advisories aren’t uncommon in Nunavut. Whale Cove underwent a similar advisory in July. Most advisories are the result of mechanical issues tied to water treatment plants or due to turbidity.
